A look back at the Long Haul in 2008

Standard

We’ve gotten a lot accomplished in 2008 for the Long Haul for Hunger.  I’d like to thank all of our supporters and donors first and foremost.  What started as a guy with a crazy idea has taken many steps to get to where we are today.  There was our first blog, followed by the creation of theultimatetrek.com.  Then we updated our blog, re-designed our website, and opened of our myspace and facebook pages. Now we find ourselves looking for sponsors and donors for Mercy Corps.

The tour also added a member when long time friend and fellow US Peace Corps volunteer Derek Marshall joined the trek.  We both purchased Surly Long Haul Trucker bicycles, well-known for their reliability, reasonable cost, and touring strength.   We now spend our free time equipping the bikes, preparing for the journey, and mapping our route.

We look forward to what 2009 will do for the journey and hope you follow us along on the journey.  Remember, a small donation from you can secure food and supplies for starving children around the world.  Go to our website or clock on the SPONSOR ME link to the right to help.  All of your money goes to Mercy Corps, not to us.  Thank you.  Happy New Year.

Surly Long Haul Trucker on Video

Here’s the first of many upcoming videos of my Surly Long Haul Trucker as it prepares for the Long Haul for Hunger charity ride from Seoul, South Korea to Portugal.  Visit www.theultimatetrek.com for more info and make sure to donate to the Mercy Corps in our name, even just 1 dollar can secure over 11 dollars of food and supplies for starving children around the world, no joke.  Thanks.
