First things first, let’s quickly discuss why you would want to donate to the Long Haul for Hunger.  In reality, we are just a way of promoting our favorite charity, Mercy Corps.

The ultimate goal of this ride is to raise $50,000 for the fight against world hunger.  Unfortunately, over 400,000,000 children go hungry every day.  Over 20,000,000 children under the age of 5 are severely malnourished.  Every 6 seconds a child dies because he or she is hungry.  This isn’t just a problem in Africa, it reaches far into Asia, the Middle East, and even parts of developed countries like the United States.  Mercy Corps was founded in 1979 and currently works in over 36 countries around the world.  They provide multi-faceted relief for not only hunger and malnutrition, but for many other things as well.  Through training, advocacy, and networking, Mercy Corps provides communities with solutions, not just temporary fixes.  They respond to emergencies and long-running problems.

For every $1 you donate to the Mercy Corps, they secure over $11.00 of food and supplies to fight hunger.
